Now that my first and only book, Nutrilicious has joined all the other cookbooks on kitchen shelves the world over, I am itching to embark on another writing spree. This time it will not be a book about whole and healthy foods with humorous anecdotes thrown in as side dishes. It will, however, be a collection of ideas and themes formulated over a lifetime; collected anecdotes, short stories and other literary tidbits for contemplation (and for the fun of it). Hopefully, this will be an opportunity to discover and cherish the common denominators in our human experiences.
I have prepared a big program for my readers simply because I always have alot to say about everything. However, there is a fly in the ointment for me— all the experts in the field of creative writing, hold that you can't write a book that is such a mismash of ideas. It all has to hang together neatly.
Nevertheless, I feel so strongly about sharing my old-and-long-collected stsuff with you that I'm willing to dust it off and go out on a limb. I am sure some of you will agree with me that you can't please everybody all the time.
I mean, just think about it! How many different thoughts do we have to cope with in our day-to-day lives. Who has the time to sort them into neat compartments and chapters? Of course I am only speaking for myself. I have, without exaggeration, literally hundreds of different ideas swirling daily in and out of my head. Most of them seem to bump into each other on the way in or out. I can't always grab them fast enough to record them which, unfortunately, means that they are lost to posterity forever.
I would like to give you some personal advice so that there will be no misunderstanding between us. When you start reading my blog and it's not what you had expected, then just pass it on to someone else; perhaps a neighbour, a friend, or a relative. But I would ask you to try and find someone who is slightly more intelligent than you are.
This blog is not only about my personal life, recorded against the backdrop of 20th and 21st century history, or about my phantasmagoric flights into word play, assorted aphorisms, jokes, sayings, and such, but it is also about my inner journey, with contemplative, thought-provoking and sometimes philosophical overtones.
I can only hope that the sometimes whimsical spirit and unavoidable humour in this blog does not jeopordize its profound messages, even when intrinsically couched in irony and sarcasm. To me this is all part of the program, because I believe that a life without humour is like a salad without a dressing.
I have emptied out my biocomputer because I'm selling out. Everything must go, and for bargain prices too!
Having said all this, I would like to explain to you where we are going together in this joint venture. I will take you on a merry-go-round of memoirs and memories, short stories, poems and jokes worthy of repeating for a healthy heart, assorted self-styled aphorisms, and other literary tidbits collected from yesterday, or yesteryear.
Wow! I'm so excited to see your new blog, Edith! It looks great so far. I'm looking forward to seeing more!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with it! You're a great lady, with lots of great stuff to share.
Love,
Heidi
